College Composition Project

Every Friday in Mrs. Burke's College Composition class, the senior high students read books to Kindergarteners. Mrs. Swenby and Mrs. Morvig’s students pick a variety of books that they would like to have read to them. A popular choice, it seems, include books about very hard to pronounce dinosaurs, and unique animal species. If the senior high students get lucky, the kindergartners will choose an easier book, such as the Bernstein Bears, a turtle named Franklin or an I Spy book where the 5-6 year olds identify a certain number of objects within a picture identical to the example given. Every once in a while they also write their own rhyming books as a class assignment, and read it to the College Composition class to show off their skills. The reading session only lasts about 15 minutes, but the students seem to enjoy every second of it.
